April Fools - 2023
We recently had the pleasure of working with Billson’s Brewery, located in the historic town of beautiful Beechworth, Victoria, to create a limited-edition soy candle to accompany their April Fools Vodka drink release.
We worked with them to create a candle that smells like sizzling smoky, maple-glazed bacon sitting atop a creamy vanilla crepe. I know it sounds weird; We didn’t know what to expect. Once we began our standard process of elimination, we began blending different notes, and after much trial and error, we came down to a formula. Let me tell you, we were pleasantly surprised with the result. What was supposed to be an April Fool’s joke turned out to be a candle that would be popular all year round!
We initially figured the scent would be overpowering and sickly, but the opposite was true. This candle smelt amazing; rich notes of creamy vanilla carried a lightly smoked aroma with that slight hint of maple syrup and a barely recognisable touch of bacon, but just enough to know that it was bacon.
Each candle was housed in our signature amber jars and fitted with Billson’s signature label. We would love to thank the down-to-earth and friendly team at Billson’s for the opportunity to bring this idea to life. They are a great, passionate Australian company producing high-quality and delicious drinks, and we had a blast.
